AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-3401, relative to suspension of students.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-6-3401(f), is amended by deleting the first sentence and by substituting instead the following sentence:

Nothing in this title shall require a local education agency to enroll a student who is under suspension and/or expelled in a local education agency either in Tennessee or another state.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect July 1, 1998, the public welfare requiring it.
