AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 50-7-303, relative to disqualification for unemployment benefits.
BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:
SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 50-7-303(a), is amended by adding the following as new subdivision (3) and by renumbering the existing subdivision (3) and subsequent subdivisions accordingly:
(3) If the commissioner finds that a claimant has been discharged from such claimant's most recent work because such claimant's actions, not previously known or permitted by the employer, placed the claimant's employer in violation of the Fair Labor Standards Act, compiled in 29 U.S.C. § 201 et seq., as amended, such disqualification shall be for the duration of the ensuing period of unemployment and until such claimant has secured subsequent employment covered by an unemployment compensation law of this state, or another state, or of the United States, and was paid wages thereby ten (10) times such claimant's weekly benefit amount;
SECTION 2 . This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
