AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4, Chapter 29 and Title 4, Chapter 3, relative to the Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-29-219(a), is amended by deleting item (25) in its entirety.

SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-29-221(a), is amended by adding a new item thereto as follows:

( ) Department of Mental Health and Mental Retardation, created by Section 4-3-101;

SECTION 3. This act shall take effect July 1, 1998, the public welfare requiring it.

Pursuant to Article III, Section 18, of the Constitution of the State of Tennessee, the Governor had House Bill No. 2152 in his possession longer than ten (10) days, so therefore the bill becomes law without the Governor's signature.
