AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 4, Chapter 29 and Title 4, Chapter 3, relative to the Department of Safety.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-29-219(a), is amended by deleting item (5) in its entirety.

SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 4-29-225(a), is amended by adding the following as a new item thereto:

( ) Department of Safety, created by Section 4-3-101;

SECTION 3. The Comptroller of the Treasury shall perform a limited program review of the Commercial Enforcement Division of the Department of Safety. Such program review shall be submitted to each member of the House and Senate Government Operations Committees by December 1, 1999.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect July 1, 1998, the public welfare requiring it.
