Substituted for: House Bill No. 1154

AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 49, Chapter 6, Part 50, relative to immunizations.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. This act shall be known as "Hepatitis B Protection by Immunization Act".

SECTION 2. The Department of Health shall create a plan to protect young Tennesseans against Hepatitis B by immunization and to prevent the spread of the disease. The department shall provide a report summarizing the plan to the General Assembly by January 15, 1998.

SECTION 3. The department shall by January 15, 1998, also promulgate the necessary rules to add Hepatitis B to the schedule of immunizations required for kindergarten entry for the 1999-2000 school year.

SECTION 4. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
