AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 41-21-236, relative to sentence reduction credits.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 41-21-236(a)(2), is amended by adding the following at the end of the subdivision:

The provisions of this section shall also apply to any inmate sentenced to the Department of Correction who is being held on a contract basis by a private correctional corporation.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
