Substituted for: House Bill No. 1536

AN ACT To amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 49-2-501, relative to special school districts.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. The Joint Oversight Committee on Education is hereby requested to study and review the rules, regulations, and statutes currently governing the creation, operation, funding, merger, and other aspects of special school districts in Tennessee. The joint committee is further requested to report its findings and recommendations to the Committees on Education of the Senate and House of Representatives by February 1, 1998.

SECTION 2. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
