AN ACT to amend Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 36, Chapter 3, Part 6, relative to domestic abuse, abuse, spousal abuse or domestic violence.

BE IT ENACTED BY THE GENERAL ASSEMBLY OF THE STATE OF TENNESSEE:

SECTION 1. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 36-3-601(1), is amended by deleting the word "abuse" and substituting instead the words "domestic abuse".

SECTION 2. Tennessee Code Annotated, Title 36, Chapter 3, Part 6, is amended by deleting the word "abuse" and the words "spousal abuse" wherever such words appear in the part and substituting instead the words "domestic abuse".

SECTION 3. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 36-3-606, is amended by adding the following as a new subsection:

( ) An order of protection issued pursuant to this part shall be valid and enforceable in any county of this State.

SECTION 4. Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 36-3-605, is amended by transferring the sentence that comprises subsection (d) to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 36-3-617 and by inserting such sentence between the second and third sentences of § 36-3-617.

SECTION 5. The Tennessee Code Commission is directed to delete the catchline to Tennessee Code Annotated, Section 36-3-605 and substitute instead the following:

36-3-605. Protection Order---Extension--Hearing.--

SECTION 6. This act shall take effect upon becoming a law, the public welfare requiring it.
